  3. Voting days may move the meeting the third Tuesday.
  1. Perpetuate and encourage a high standard of recreational dancing and dance leadership (including, but not limited to, square, round, contra, clog, folk, country western dancing, calling, cueing and leading)
  2. Stimulate an active fellowship among area dancers through clubs
  3. Create a forum for area recreational dancing
  4. Provide dancer capability by sponsoring or supporting lessons, classes, and workshops
  5. Coordinate member club dance activities
  6. Promote recreational dancing to the general public
  7. Promote or sponsor community service activities
  8. Promote or sponsor State and National Dance Conventions and other dance-related functions
  9. Affiliate with the Ohio Corporation of Dance Clubs, Inc

President’s Responsibilities:

  1. Presides at Council meetings
  2. Manages business of the Council.
  3. Prepares and submits a budget, with Executive Committee inputs, for Council approval in November each year
  4. Serves as chair of the executive committee
  5. Serves an ex-officio member of all committees, except the nominating committee
  6. Maintains official files
  7. Appoints:
    • Officers (See Constitution, Article VI, and Bylaws, Article II, Section 5D.)
    • Standing committees (See Bylaws, Article VI, Section 3.)
    • Ad hoc committees (See Bylaws, Article VI, Section 4.)

Vice-President’s Responsibilities:

    1. Manages operation of lessons, classes, and workshops sponsored by the Council
    2. Assumes the duties of the president in his/her absence

Secretary’s Responsibilities:

  1. Records minutes and attendance of all business proceedings
  2. Keeps a list of all committee members
  3. Keeps current copies of the Constitution and Bylaws
  4. Keeps standing policies current with decisions made during Council meetings
  5. Maintains the corporation record book. (See Constitution, Article III.)
  6. Processes business correspondence for the Council as required

Treasurer’s Responsibilities:

  1. Receives monies, pays bills, and maintains auditable financial records
  2. Provides financial reports to Council meetings
  3. Furnishes yearly report
  4. Submits records for a yearly audit

Awards Chairperson’s Responsibilities:

  1. Collects information from the Club Raid Chairpersons for the Honor Raider Badges
  2. Orders necessary badges and bars for Honor Raiders
  3. Orders Council Badges as needed
  4. Maintains Honor Raider records
  5. Updates the posted honor Raiders names on wall of MSP
  6. Gathers information from clubs for their multiyear plaques (such as 25-year, 50 years etc.)
  7. Revises Awards Program as needed, usually with all raid chairs
  8. Organizes and leads the Honor Couple submissions and maintains results until the Honor Dance
  9. Organizes and sets up the Honoree Dance each year

The Michael Solomon Support Committee Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains the Pavilion
  2. Handles the scheduling and the maintaining of the MSP Calendar
  3. Collects and deposits usage fees of MSP
  4. Addresses needs concerning MSP

Communications/Publicity Chairperson Responsibilities:
  1. Develops and implements a public relations program including community service activities
  2. Creates publicity for Council-wide activities
  3. Arranges public demonstrations of all forms of recreational dance available through the Council
  4. Requests club dance schedules and consolidates them into a Council-wide schedule
  5. Prints and distributes Council-wide schedule at an interval determined by the Council
